Medical Courses

MBBS DESCRIPTION OF COURSE The MBBS course is of four and a half years duration and is followed by one year of Compulsory Rotating Residential Internship. The course begins with a short foundation course sensitizing students to the health situation in India, the role of doctors in the community and basic principles of Communication & Ethics. The undergraduate course in medicine comprises of three stages.

The first stage of 12 months duration consists of the basic sciences - Anatomy, Physiology and Biochemistry & beginning of basics of Community Medicine.

The second stage is of 18 months duration and comprises of clinical and para- clinical subjects - Pharmacology, Pathology, Microbiology and Forensic Medicine.

The third stage is of 24 months duration and covers Ophthalmology, Oto-rhinolaryngology, Community Medicine, General Medicine, Child Health, Surgery, Orthopaedic Surgery and Obstetrics & Gynaecology.

A posting in Community Health is an integral part of each stage. Posting in primary health centers and secondary care centres is a unique feature of medical education. The internship lasting for 12 months comprises of postings in Community Health, Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Child Health, Orthopaedics, Emergency Medicine and short elective postings in various specialties. All these are as per the guidelines of the Medical Council of India.

Admission Process

Central Government Nominee :-

The guidance regarding admission process is awaited as per the guidelines of oversight committee under Lodha Commission. Basically NEET qualification is must. Further guidelines are awaited. The guidelines will be notified from time to time online.

Documents to be submitted :-

Original documents to be submitted at the time of admission
  1. CGPMT/NEET- Mark sheet, Admit Card
  2. Allotment letter
  3. 10+2 Mark Sheet/Mark sheet of qualifying exam/Passing certificate.
  4. Domicile certificate
  5. Caste certificate
  6. Transfer certificate
  7. Migration Certificate
  8. Character certificate

Admission Comittee

  1. The Admission committee will have the final authority in all admission related matters.
  2. The admission committee shall decide on all representations, queries, complaints etc. of the candidates and the decision of the committee shall be final and binding.
The application forms complete in all respect should be submitted to the DEAN, SHRI SHANKARACHARYA INSTITUTE OF MEDICAL SCIENCES.
