Pharmacovigilance Committee

The Pharmacovigilance committee is constituted for Shri Shankaracharya Institute of Medical Sciences, Junwani Bhilai as per MCI guidelines.

Objective - The Pharmacovigilance committee is to scan various prescriptions served by the Hospital from various sections and to assess that rationality of various drugs prescribed. In different instance medicines are prescribed in exess & not relevant to treatment of patient. Hardly any drug is prescribed in generic name and mostly combination drugs are prescribed in under proprietor / trade name.

The abuse of antibiotic and steroid are noted & prescribed at random to show magic cure.

Such illogical & unethical practices are mushrooming at different corner of our society.

Adverse drug reaction, indications & contraindication of drugs under altered physiological states including pregnancy must be account for.
Drug delivery system / Monitoring of drug action also constitute a major task of Pharmacovigilance committee.

The committee is constituted to work to work at multi dimensional plane to safeguard the interest of patient.
